Do you have your safety kill switch lanyard hooked up?

Can we assume you have a carbed engine?

Sure a bad safety switch would cause it. What it does is stops power from the ignitions switch from getting to the coil. it could also be a bad ignition switch, or a corroded terminal somewhere.
With the key in the run position check to see if you have power to the purple wire on the coils + terminal.

Re: 2008/4.3/ no fire?

Thanks for the reply/help. Let me add to this, its my boat that we're talking about here, HF38425 is helping me with it. We have checked/eliminated the kill switch as problem since the purple wire to coil has 12v when key is on and kill switch is in "run" when you turn the kill switch off it cuts the 12v to the coil so we thought the eliminated the kill switch/ignition. That right?
