2008 bayliner engine lid insulation

ok so i have the bayliner 175, and the engine noise is loud!...the lid has no insulation or sound deading product on it at all. i am wondering if anyone has insulated there enginge lid and what they used and how well it worked and so on, looking to find a good product! thanx.

If you consider the engine noise loud, there's got to be something wrong. I can't imagine there's anything bigger than a 4.3L in that boat. If you must try something, try a auto/marine sound deadening material that can be cut/stuck to the engine compartment. Just make sure it's flame retardent. Dynamat/Dynapad seem like possible options.

there is nothing wrong just loud!...if you ever went for a ride in a bayliner you would know what i mean, they do come with an insulated lid, but it is an option that mine didnt come with...by the way its a 3.0l

I've ridden in a few 18-19ft bayliners and didn't notice anything (other than cheap construction), but just get some sound deadening material and put it on the under side of the lid and on all of the bare fiberglass in the engine compartment. It will likely reduce noise and low-frequency vibration significantly from the engine.

I know exactly what your talking about. I have an 2007 175 bayliner and when opened up I can barely hear my tunes, and that with 2 amps and lots of speakers. Go to dynamat's website, they offer a few things to fix it like dynaliner and shield. You can find them cheap on ebay. Been meaning to do my engine lid also just never got around to it. Figure do the lid to see how much of a difference and if greatly reduced, would get more to do the inside fiberglass all around the back seats and helm to drop it more. Keep us updated if you get around to doing this.

The engine noise is common with the 3.0L engines. Especially in the uninsulated i/o's. You should check out the small bowriders posts at baylinerownersclub.org. Lots if helpful information there. Plus you won't get the cheap construction cracks. From what i've read, sounds like an inexpensive and simple mod. Hope you enjoy your 175. *
