How much does the toon/trailer rig weigh and what is the tow rating of the Jeep?

According to the specs and with the tow package it should have a 5000# tow rating. A 20ft pontoon with trailer most likely won't weigh more but you better check her weight...... If you have the factory tires on the trailer look on their load rating, Multiply by two and that's the highest it should ever register. If that's below 5000# you should be fine.

How far and how fast? Pontoons are interesting, the weight is only half the story. They also have the wind drag coefficient of a brick, sideways. Dragging them down the interstate at 75 mph is a tough job for a v6, even if it is well within the tow rating.

It will tow it fine. Your boat and trailer will be in the 2000 to 3000 range. It will feel a lot heaver due to wind resistance and as long as you stay under 60 you wont notice it much. I used to tow my 20 footer with a 4 cylinder S 10.

75mph...holy crap!! I tow my rig 45 to 55. I may be old and slow but I go far.

Not that I would recommend it with a pontoon, but I"ve seen it done! I'll drag my boats at 75 mph, but the enclosed snowmobile trailer goes 65 max. (similar wind resistance to a pontoon) 45mph though... That is extremely dangerous if you are on an interstate with a speed limit of 75. Far more dangerous than towing faster!

Even 55 makes me very, very nervous. Someone cruising along at 80 mph is closing the distance at 40 feet per second. They can run into you well before they realize you are driving that slow.
