So here is a question one of my customers forgot to put the plug in this spring. The water was up to the manifold but I was able to get the boat out and drained. There was no water in the oil and everything looks good. I have started it and ran it up to Temp. It idles really good and has lots of power out of the hole. One the boat plains it starts to loose power. My question is does any one know how the vents work on these boats ? could water in the gas cause this ? Will Iso solve the problem or is draining the tank the only answer?

Thanks for your help

Depending on where the fuel tank vents are located, sure water can get into the tank.
Yes water will cause it to run bad, water doesn't run near as well as gasoline.
DO NOT put dry gas or Iso in the tank, you must drain the water out.

Yep.... why add a bottle of alcohol to gasoline that is already 10% alcohol. Doesn't do anything.
You could start with the fuel i guess. I would definitly pull a sample of it. But any boat that has been underwater, especially salt, is going to start developing electrical gremlins.

Hi so it is in Fresh water. We did get the boat out of the water right away, but I will test the gas with some paste. What is the best way to get the gas out?ft a Pump? or does it have to be tank Removal ?

Check out Raycor's water separator fuel filters, install one with the transparent bowl on the bottom and the quick drain fitting. If you don't get all of the water out of the tank or any in the future the water will clearly show. Also with the quick drain you can deal with it on a regular basis without pulling the filter assembly.
I had on my last boat in Florida's humid environment and its worth the money.

.

Those are not allowed in engine compartsments with an IO, they are designed for outboard installation. Even on the Racor site, it states for outboards only for the clear bowl.

Is there anywhere to install the set up outside the great explosion hazard engine compartment that the IOs create? Or install the deepest spin on filter your compartment will allow and dump the filter after each boating trip. This will allow the most amount of time for fuel vapors to dissipate even though you use a blower before starting.
