Hey fellas!! Sorry to bother you guys, I have over 10yrs of experience with Evinrude outboards but I'm confused with this one 😂 🤦‍♂️ I'm off season right now and my brp account won't ******* login somehow 😡.Here's my question: 2009 G1 130hp which gearcases are compatible? Someone told me the 130hp casing was unique and not interchangeable like few ho g1 models, is that true? A friend of mine got screwed by a shop , first they sold him a used 130hp setup, a week later without hitting anything the lower unit blew up internally, no physical damage on the outside of the casing but inside the casing there was big grooves caused by the gear defragmentation. They've refused to cover the repairs (labor and parts) so my friend had to buy all internal parts by himself online, then they sold him a used casing (they said it was mint) and charged him half labor fees, about 3k later he showed me his fixed lower unit (ice immediately saw issues: trimmed fin, Bondo hiding big chips behind the unit under a huge coat of cheap tremclad paint can), and it was hard to tell by eyes but the casing where the carrier is installed seemed not perfectly round, I took my digital caliper and measured, it was ovalised:( ... My friend didn't wanted to argue again with the shop owner and mostly wanted to use his damn boat for the last two hot weeks of the summer so he has ignored my recommendations (told him all the parts he just paid for would go to **** very soon if the casing isn't to specs and wasn't rebuild properly).. two weeks later he asked me to winterize his boat, cracked the oil screw to put new oil in and it was all water, water/oil caramel ending with a good old grey paste of metal debris. 😡🤦‍♂️.. I've opened the lower unit I can save half of the internal and save him some $$ but I need a good casing, can't find one anywhere!! Si again I'm asking: is any g1 ho models interchangeable with the 130hp? If not does sei makes one? BRP pricing are fawwkking ridiculous tbh!!!
Thanks
Chris

On my opinion those lower units are not robust.----Look into fitting an older ( 1985 to 1998 ) one .----Might need to swap out the upper driveshaft and shift rod.-----A V-6 lower unit might also fit and be strong.

Agree as the ole "batwing " unit wasnt very good. I would suggest he get a SEI unit and plop in driveshaft and go.

Funny, I had a 2009 g1 115 and the 130 is the same gearcase. I didn't have the HO version though. Only thing I saw that was different was more water intake holes. Anyway, they put the v6 gearcases on those motors so they can hold up to that 2 stroke snap. In 11 years I never had any gearcase issues. Hopefully the etec forum can answer your issues.

Best of luck.

It is not a V-6 gearcase but a V-6 housing as gear ratio is different. Put the SEI old style V-4 unit on it and you wont have to change props
