I have a ranger 1860 angler with 150 etec and getting 5200 rpm wot and 43 mph with cyclone 17 pitch prop. Wondering if this is ok or what prop might be better to reach more rpm. Supposed to be 5400- 5800 rpm I believe. Thanks any advice will help.

I would expect low to mid 50s from that hull with a 150. 43 mph with a 17 5200 sounds a bit off as well

before I fire off a bunch of ideas...

How long have you had this Combo?

What's the true min-max wot rpm range factory stated for that motor as not to guess ?

You are trimming the engine out as you go faster?

I am ok with the current prop but I don't want to damage my engine. I am getting 5200 rpm at wot and they say max rpm should be 5800 for that engine

Unless you run real heavy load, I'd suspect a wrong tach setting. With a light load and 17p prop, you should be seeing a lot more than 5200 rpm. Going with a boat weight of 1815# 25 gal of gas and 500# people and gear, here's what's recommended.

Boat type: Fiberglass Fish
  • Usage: Overall good performance/0 ft
  • Engine Manufacturer:
    Evinrude
  • Engine Type: Outboard
  • Engine Year: 2009
  • Number of Engines: One
  • Engine Family: V6 DFI 2-Stroke
  • Engine: 150 E-Tec
  • Drive / Gear Case: Evinrude 135-250 hp 2-S 1.86 Ratio
[h=3]Details[/h]
  • Calculated Pitch: 21.14
  • Calculated Weight with engine(s): 2,876.50 lbs
  • Calculated Engine RPM: 5,350
  • Calculated Boat Speed: 52.23 mph

150 Hp @5000 rpm
WOT rpm range for that engine would be 4500 - 5500 rpm. After BRP took over, they tightened the WOT range of the FICHT engines, which by then was relabeled/renamed 'Direct Injection' to 4750 - 5250 rpm
