Alright which of these engines would work best for:<br />1. Crestliner 2000 Mirage<br />2. Fisher/Skier with more fishing (trolling as well)<br />3. Troll with it if necessary<br />4. Lasts Long <br /><br />Need help plz, thanks

All of the above motors should do what you want.<br />All the motors are designed to troll at low speeds.<br />The Optimax had some problems with their early motors, late 90's but the appear bullet proof now.<br />The HPDIs had problems, I dont know if they have resolved them yet, you dont hear much about them in my area.<br />There have been some issues with the E-techs, but most owners appear to be very happy.<br />As far as the last question, these motors, really havent been on the market very long, especially the E-tec. Most long term problems dont start to appear until the motors are about 8 years old, so ask the question again in 10 years.<br />Check out your local dealers, find the dealer that is close, appears to be knowlegable and has a well equiped workshop. Then buy the motor that he sells.

Check these forums and you'll be hard pressed to find an E-tec problem. These engines have been around several years now and have proven to be excellent motors from the git-go.

Jaxin-<br /><br />Let dealer service be your guide on this purchase. There are several decent dealers around Helena, choose an outboard from the dealer that is going to give you the best prompt service. The E-Tec is the newest technology out of the three and would be my choice if the price is right. But, any of them will serve you well. <br /><br />Howdy to a fellow Helenan....

Alright gents I have my boat. I was going for a mirage 2000 because of price, but with a crestliner screwup i gained a great price on a 1950 sportfish. It has an 80 thrust minnkota w/autopilot/universal sonar, Lowrance 334 fishfinder/GPS, 200 E-TEC H.O. and a gorgeous looking boat. Now since i'm in debt i should be having some fun about now...lol. The boat isn't ready until this weekend so I will come back here and tell you how this E-TEC runs. <br /><br />Appreciate all the help i got on these forums. I will definitely tell people to come here with a boat question.
