Audible alarm is going off(beep-beep)not constant.I checked and the oil is working.when I attempted to start no water was cycling.How can I check to see if I have a water pump problem?<br /> NEW MSSG.<br /> HOW ABOUT THE WATER CYCLING.SHOULDNT IT WORK AS YOU START ENGINE.

A constant beep is the overtemp, and the intermittent beep is low oil. Check your oil tank and make sure it is above the minimum line. Also make sure that your little tank on top of the motor has oil in it also.

oil systems on mercs need to be treated with care, thay have so many components , tank sensors, warning modules, drive gear sensrs, the list goes, on, get a manual and id pop out the oil pump drive gear and check the plastic gear in the engine to make sure its mot stripped out, it bolts around the crank, and drive a worm gear and pump, its has a magnetic sensor on it, if the pump stops turning, due to the bad crank gear, the alarm sounds<br /><br />good luck, keep us infoed

Also, those oil warning systems can actually set a false alarm due to a misfiring cyclinder. The Oil module picks up an ignition signal from one cylinder, and compares it to the pulses it is getting from the sensor on the oil pump. If that one cylider is misfiring, it will make the oil module think that the pump is "slipping".<br /><br />Actually, if the motor is cold, you may get no tel-tale water for a minute or more. The tell-tale on those motors is the actually the water that passes the thermostats. If the motor is cold, and the thermostats are closed, then little to no water comes from the tel-tale..<br /><br />Scott.

Make sure that your on board oil tank is full. There is a float in the cap to indicate low oil, same beep-beep alarm. If it is not full, try to loosen the cap enough to allow the air to be pushed out as the tank fills with oil, when it is full tighten the cap, just enough to keep it from leaking,. The caps have a tendancy to crack along the top of the threads and leak oil.
