200hpdi/Pathfinder 22v...best prop?

I bought a Pathfinder 2200v with a 200hpdi engine, both 2001. The prop that it came with is 13-3/8 x 23 and I have no idea if it's the original prop or put on later.

What is the best prop for my situation? I fish flats and near shore and rarely run on plane longer than 30 min.

Thanks for you help!

We'll assume you have a hydraulic jackplate, rarely, if ever, see a PF without one. With a 200 we tend to be in the 21 - 22 range. With a 225 22 -23, with a 250 definately a 23. But we use Turbos that have a lot more diameter than that.

A lot depends on load and what you're looking for. A friend just sold his and he had a 200 V Max OX-66. We ran a 23 on it because he ran light loads and was only interested in to speed. Ran 62, not quite 63.

Stay tuned. We're having some custom props made specifically for boats like yours. Where are you located?

I'm in Tampa. And you were correct in your assumption that my boat has a hydraulic jackplate; it's a Panther make.

I'm thinking that there is probably some compromise in prop selection, judging from your reply, and what I'm looking for is the best all around performance combined with the best fuel economy. By the way, I rarely spend more than 30 minutes on plane since I'm running from one spot to the other throughout the day.

I'm intrigued by your remark about coming up with a prop for boats like mine......I'll watch for your post on it!

Thanks for your response...

Re: 200hpdi/Pathfinder 22v...best prop?

Keep an eye out here -- we're going to have another prop test day before the end of the year. Hopefully when it cools down some. There were several PF's, Hewes, Mavericks at the last one. Most, if not all, the Hewes family of boats come with Power Tech props so that's what most of the guys will have and recommend. We've had great success with the larger diameter props.

We're pretty close so you could drive down for the test day. we have it right outside Burnt Store Marina. A lot of guys from out of town stay there and leave on Sunday. Bring the boat loaded with your normal load. If your normal load is 3 guys and it's only you and the wife there are plenty of folks available to ride along to simulate your normal load. Some guys come looking for top end only, some guys only have 2 people, some 4 and most guides look for holeshot and how the prop carries a load.
