Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Well I just cancelled my reservations at Lake Anna. If it wasn't a 2 day drive I would have made it. What a way to start the day. :(

Guess I will continue on my quest to visit individuals that are restoring SCs. Been to see wrflalpacas and brobrad. I have family in eastern PA so I might be contacting some of you soon to see if a visit is possible.

Time for a couple valium washed down with Anchor Steam...

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Sorry to hear that the meet-up has lost some momentum. I'm a relatively new owner, so wasn't part of the early planning, but dragging the boat from Wisconsin probably wasn't likely to happen anyway. Still, it sounds like a great idea.

bananaboater, what do the hats look like? Maybe sell them to the group? I might be interested if they'd fit my big head.

Just an idea.

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Well I haven't chimed in here in a little while...we do still have our reservations with the slip included.

I am 50/50 on whether or not we will be able to make it due to being monetarily ill-equipped. I'm also slightly concerned about my Explorer and trailer making the long drive thru the mountains:eek: but if I had the cash I'd try in a heartbeat.

In all honesty regional get-togethers will be a much more viable alternative as we all do live quite far from each other.

Life has gotten in the way of an awful lot of restos which is tough to control.

I am with Andy though...if we want to do an event next year somewhere I will plan on it and make sure to budget way in advance.

I don't mean to be an a__ but we planned this event WAY in advance. I just don't think it's feasible with all of us being low-budget-boaters and too spread out. With the cost of fuel and the fact that many of us have crusty tow vehicles and dicey trailers coming from any kind of distance is difficult. You could probably pull off a Michigan get together.

you hit the nail on the head there, jeremy...

if we were all rich and drove brand new vehicles we'd be golden!

Sorry to hear this plan is dwindling. Way too far for me to drive anyway.

If all the Michigan folks wanna do a regional visit next summer in the U.P. I'd be up for that....

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

I plan on trying to get together for some day trips on Lake St. Clair. I wouldn't mind a Saginaw Bay trip either.

If we do an Upper Peninsula (U.P.) trip, I would suggest it be camping at a State Park. That way if there is a low or high turn out it doesn't affect individuals as much. Plan for your family and if the others show up bonus.

Sorry about the Tin Stock guys. My boat is a ways off from running so I didn't even consider it. My wife would have gone for it too. She loves camping with families and kids.

North Beach!! and Gang. Thank you all for the thoughts and a hell of a lot of work and planning. I live as far away as anyone excepl GLG in Prince Rupert. If I had planned to go I would be there . My Wife just went to Oklahoma City for some Dog conferencs and shows and back again 4 thousand miles of driving. Cant wait to see the gas bill. Oh had to have a new van for the trip. We plan on a lot of trips and work around the costs We only have retirment and S/S for income but do without a lot of things to cope. I really feel for the people back East as you ave been hit real hard with the recession. Calm waters guys and tight lines at least we still have our boats I'm about to finish coat my 16 ss as soon as the weather warms up .

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

When I saw this falling apart I was deeply sadened but the writing was on the wall when the economy took a dive. I don't think there's anyone that didn't want to go.

You guys that worked so hard to put this together can feel proud that you arroused so much enthusiasm and brought so many people together with seriously good intentions. You started this with nothing and you're ending it with a treasure chest full of the most valuable thing that man has to offer.... friendship..

I'm one of the lucky ones with new cars and boats and steady paychecks. In this economy, I'm scared. I'm afraid to spend money on something that has no retained monitary value. I'll buy a car or a boat because in a pinch I can sell them but I can't sell a vacation of this magnitude and I don't want to be gone from work that long for fear that work won't be there when I get back.

This things got us all by the you know what's and we all just have to hang on and continue to help each other out like we do on this site.

We'll get throught it together and when we do, we'll have something even grander to celebrate!

Best wishes to all that do make it.

Bummer!

I had visions of you guys posting up photos of a whole bunch of Starcrafts all lined up next to each other, looking super cool!

Ah well, you guys who will be there - have fun on the water and with your families, and, safe travels, eh!

Cheers

So sorry it is a bust. I wouldn't have a boat ready at the time anyway. If there's such a plan in the future, i'll sure attemp it. I am a fan of the "REGIONAL" idea if we can put that back together.

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Well I hate to say but I have canceled my reservations this evening. I had a room for 24,25,26,27 June with a boat slip at the Lighthouse Inn. Well what can I say my boat won't be ready anyway. I was just gonna come with my 15' Alumacraft. (it's a tiny) My trucks transmission or rear end and or both are messing up and I need to take it in. Man this sucks I was so looking forward to meeting everyone and their family along with seeing all the great Starcraft boats. Well hopefully things will be better this time next year and we can plan another get together. :(

I realy feel for you guys the ones who planed this and the ones who droped out. No Ill intentions I'm sure on anyones part. fininacal conditions and travel expenses are hard to justify. The weather in most places sucks and the world will be covered in oil damn soon or at least on the east coast. We can all be thankfull for the value we have in our life and the lasting friendship we all share. We did not grt there by not being frugal with our funds. I feel your pain my friends, and will continue to try to help others on this site as well as I can .

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

I just brought my 1966 Holiday V Starcraft home last night and saw this forum tonight. I started with the early posts and followed the fun and thrill of planning something that should have been a blast only to end with everyone falling to reality. If I can get the minimum done to mine (points, plugs, etc. etc) together in time I am going to Lake Anna on that weekend just because it sounds so interesting! Keep up the good work guys and maybe the economy will be better next year! And by the way I would buy one of those hats and may do a tee from the last of the designs myself!

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Welcome GCHEF. The good news is there are 4 Starcraft guys in your area. Myself and Tim Fives are in York, coolbikeguy is in Lancaster and a friend of mine who has yet to get his butt on here is in Sykesville. We all intent to hit the bay at some point so we may be able to have a regional TinStock.

Also, be SURE to check out the Upper Chesapeake thread in the Boating Activities and Destinations section. It's very active and you can definitely find some other iboaters in your area.
