Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Thanks Bert!

Gchef, I'd love to see that 66 at Lake Anna next weekend. I was really looking forward to seeing all those old boats and to say I'm disapointed would be a HUGE understatement!

So for any of you new folks thinking of coming by it's at Highpoint Marina. come on down and just say Hi if you're not busy. We'll probably be beached at one of the small islands in the middle of the lake. take a left out of the marina, go under the bridge and just go straight till you hit the islands just past the nuke plant.

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Well at the risk of looking like a total idiot, I thought I'd post this.

We'll be hitting Lake Anna on Thursday morning and staying at the Lighthouse Inn till Monday evening.

We'll be monitoring channel 13 on the squawkbox and if anyone plans to show up (looks pretty thin at this point) you can pm me and I'll send you my cell number.

Days will be spent beached at the islands accross the lake from and just past the nuke plant if you leave Highpoint, turn left and go under the bridge. head straight down the lake to the cluster of islands on your left.

WISH I WAS COMMIN :( NB have a great time buddy and I hope you can at least hook up with EZ and his buds. That way it won't be a total wash out.
But I am sure you will enjoy it all the same. PS: I need to get with you on that older CC out of your boat, I am wanting to setup a cod shipping of it to me. I will talk to you about that soon.

Enjoy your weekend. I fried my motor Saturday afternoon. Had to be towed 14 miles back to the marina by Sea Tow.

Hey Guys,

Glad at least 4 of you are getting together. I hope it is a great time. Take pics and post them soon. Maybe we can do better next year. I just put the finish coat on mine this morning and hope to be in the water soon. ANY MORE OF THE HATS AVAILABLE?

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

Brad,
The get together was supposed to be last weekend. I was there with my family and saw no-one else. I never heard anything from E and pretty much cruised the entire lake and never saw another Starcraft the entire weekend.

So, we picked up the jet skis from the Yamaha dealer on Friday and launched them immediately. Gassed them up, cruised around the point, docked, ran into the room to grab pfd's and upon our return they were both pretty close to SANK!

Both engine compartments were completely full of water and we had to drag them (full) accross the little bay to the dealer to find out that the recall required taking the exhaust components out but the recall kits did not come with new gaskets so they used the old ones along with some silicone????

Needless to say, they are back in the shop awaiting gasket kits.

On Sunday, we fired the LL up and went up lake to the local dockside restaraunt for the breakfast bar. Upon returning to the boat we experienced some sort of double backfire/deiseling scenario and filled the #4 cylinder with water. We removed all the plugs, cranked it over to drain the water, gave it a while to dry and fired it up. Uh oh-got a slight knock. Not real bad but there nonetheless. We decided to go immediately back to the marina. We were within sight of the marina when something came loose and blew a big honkin hole in the side of the block:eek: And she was done.......

Sorry about your motor NB. The good news (if there is any) is the 3.0 is plentiful.

Good luck with the rebuild/re-power.

Hey NB, that was one memorable weekend. If I was superstitious I would wonder if more had attended would the same fate have gotten them too. Or just the opposite? My optimistic side says opposite.

That hole in the block is impressive. When you do something you do it right! Bummer.

Good luck with repair, Albert

Re: 2010 Starcraft owners Get Together

NB,

I hate what happened with the boat, and a terrible bummer on being on the lake alone. It sounds like it was a weekend i would have.

I have learned to plan to spend at least half of your time boating working on the. That way you are not dissappointed, but when it goes good it makes up for it all. I have an old 73 johnson 115 and plan to replace it with a "much newer" 82 115 Johnson, but i do plan to rebuild it first. Hang in there and keep working at it.

Fuel Injection motor will need to be a 4.3. I don't think they made a 2.5 or 3.0 with MPI.

I want fuel injection in the worst way. I'll be interested to see how that works out for you. If you can pull it off I'll copy you.

Good luck N.B.:)

That suxs NB looks like you siphoned water in through the exhaust. Seen it happen and it's usually always with the same end result.

So, why don't you museum this puppy and build a Glen-L Aluminum this winter? I'm gonna give it a shot.
