I'm having trouble getting max rpms out of my F50 Yamaha 4 stroke outboard.Should I measure prop and go to a lower pitch? I'm only getting about 4500 rpms at wot.Any help would be great. I'm not looking for speed just a comfortable ride. Thanks Paul
You have the plan. I like setting the 4 strokes up at about 500rpm under max rated. They don't sound as busy at WOT, and they're usually about the same speed....
has it always done this?
how long have you owned it.
is the motor in good condition?
just when you are aboard?
...water in toons?...as mentioned...
helps to answer these questions...
diameter, pitch, # of blades, cupped prop or not., load in boat...all affect max throttle rpm..
