2011 Optimax 150 going into guardian mode

I just rigged this motor. Test run at the lake last week was fine. I took her in the ocean today, she ran fine on the way out there, we picked up to move spots and 10 minutes in it went into what I'm guessing is guardian mode. Won't rev over 1800 RPM. Starts and idles fine, but won't go above 1800 RPM. Drove back to the harbor at 5 mph. There is no beeping coming from the engine. My gauges are analog so I'm not able to get any engine codes.

I solved this by unscrewing the cap on the reservoir in the engine and letting it fill up with oil from the reservoir. There must have been air in the line. Engine revs normally now.
