I am trying to put a 2012 4.3 truck motor in a 2004 boat and there is an issue with the harmonic balancer. The 2008 and up 4.3s have a different timing chain cover which sticks out more and the 2004 harmonic balancer and hits the timing mark tab, crank position sensor, and possibly the front seal. I cut down the timing tab and sensor (not used with 2004 distributor ignition) so they clear but it still seems like the balancer may be touching the seal. Unfortunately, the 2004 balancer must be use or you will have problems with belt alignment, fresh water pump mounting, etc.... Has anyone ever faced this before and/or have any ideas? Thanks
