Brand new motor. Was planning on going with non-ethanol fuel as much as possible. You guys recomend for or against an additive such as Stabil or Seafoam. Two very different additives.

Where do you get non ethanol fuel? If you do use E-10 it should be treated, not sure which is the best. Even with my treated fuel I am still having problems, then agaian I have carbs not fuel injection. Good luck.

Many stations around here sell and post it that way. Lots of boaters.

Stabil or Seafoam all the time will stabilize fuel. Google: Marine Fuel Additives, for lots of info., ingredients, applications of various products. You should have a fuel/water separator type cartridge filter between the tank and the motor. Study and learn the location and service/cleaning of several fuel filters on your motor. Buy a Yamaha repair manual. Good Luck!

Re: 2012 Yamaha F115 Fuel and Additive Question

My F90 is six years old and I don't think I've ever NOT run fuel with (at least) 10% ethanol. The only time I ever had a problem was my own fault. (Mounted the fuel tank vents in the wrong place.) I corrected that mistake, cleaned out the fuel tanks, and have had years of trouble free operation ever since. I have a 10 micron inline fuel filter in place and run StarTron in the fuel. If you start with a clean fuel tank, have the fuel tank vents properly located, and keep good o-rings on the filler cap, you really shouldn'd have any water ingress. "Condensation" in the tank has never been an issue for me, and it is frequently very humid in Houston. Run a quality additive and you should be good to go. :)

I have the same engine and run non-ethenol with no additives, except in the winter if the boat will sit for a month or longer.Haven't had any problems yet.Only about forty hours since August.
