Nope, that sounds right. Those last few hundred revs have the engine pushing at maximum power. To increase the boat speed as it gets faster required more and more power. The power required to go from 20knots to 30 knots might be only 40hp, but to go from 30knots to 40 knots would require at least double that... Also, up at that top end is where you're going to make dramatic increases in your fuel consumption. Think of your car, same thing. It also requires a lot of throttle to get those last few hundred revs... And it takes time to get up to that full speed. 0 to 50 in under 4 seconds, but 0 to 60 takes over 6 seconds. A 20% speed increase takes a 100% time increase...Knot for knot, boats out accelerate cars quite significantly..
