2021 Nascar - Race 16, Sonoma

We aren't at the halfway point of the season and this weekend is the third road race. Since Sonoma is in California during a 20 year drought, it probably won't rain. Probably. X-Men and ARCA are at Mid-Ohio, in the middle of Ohio is my guess. No practice or qualifying for any of the races.

• Larson and Elliott are starting on the front row Sunday.
• On a road course, so who could be a favorite? How about two? Elliot and Truex.
• Post-race inspection penalties - Byron and Bowman had a loose or missing lugut for a fine. Haley had two so his crew chief is suspended for this weekend.
• TV ratings - Fox earned a 2.3 rating and 4.061 million viewers for Sunday's Coke 600, down a tick in rating but up 2% in viewership from last year (2.4/3.96M).

And yellow on the 1st turn after the green flag. Gragson went off course for the mangle.

Yellow # 2 on lap 8 after Martins loses his engine.

Cindric has led all 8 laps.

Ty Gibbs takes the lead on green, Cindric takes it back. Halfway through the 1st heat.

On lap 15, The Dinger takes the lead. It's getting crowded up front.

The Dinger wins heat 1.

On lap 19 HBurton went off into the weeds and ripped the front off his car. Done for the day.

Some weird rules in play. Cars pitted for tires, but no fuel because it's one or the other, but not both.

Yellow - Clements motor died, ignition related. Lap 42, 9 laps to go in the heat.

Back to green with Gibbs leading The Dinger, who takes the lead in the Keyhole.

The Dinger hit the pits before the heat finished and Haley led the rest of the heat to win.

Sieg leads the restart, but Cindric is right on his tail. 20 laps left in the race.

Sieg didn't stay in front long. Cindric leads with 18 to go.

10.778 second lead for Cindric evaporates with a yellow when Jeb Burton gets stuck in a gravel trap. 5 laps to go.

Restart for Cindric, but only a blink ahead of 2nd place.
