I just got a 21' duracraft that came with hydrofoils on the lower unit. What benefits are they there for and what negitive effects are caused. I use the boat in mostly the waterway and inlets and I like to be able to raise the bow at times because of rough waters and I cant seem to do it in this boat no matter how i adjust the throttle and tilt & trim it goes from flat plowing water to a level plane is this caused by the hydrofoils?

Yes it could be.The motor should be high enough on the transom so the foil isn't in the water
on plane. The foil will improve hole shot. When running at reduced speeds it may keep the bow from bounding around. Try the boat without the foil.
You should still raise the motor to a point just before venting becomes a problem.
Usually end up with the antivent plate(just above the prop)even with or slighjtly above the bottom.
