Most full size trucks are coming from the factory with 20" rims, 22's will not be a problem. Unless you are looking at lowering and need a low profile tire, you can get an All Terain tire for 22's and have no problems on slippery ramps. My Dodge came with 20" rims and 33" tires from the factory. I have since put on Cooper A/T tires and have excellent traction in 2wd. Even with 22's, you can still have a lot of sidewall with larger tires. I have more sidewall on my 20s than most small trucks have on 15" rims.

Just an update I bought 24" rims for the truck and dont have any problems pulling out the launchs around here with it. Just need to watch out for pot holes on the way up to the lake

Larger Rims will hurt your tower power also. Not sure the right term to use but it changes your gear ratio. To the worse for towing. More stress on the automatic trans.

Larger rims alone will not affect "tower power" or effective gearing IF the tire diameter is the same and the tire/rim combo weight is the same. The same holds true for braking and suspension capability. If the new combo is heavier (very likely) than the stockers, your braking will suffer, as will your brake lifespan. Also, your suspension will be working harder to control the additional weight. Power will be lost as it takes more to get the extra weight going.
Unsprung weight gain is bad. It is like adding twice as much or more sprung weight. If that makes sense.
