I have a 1997 225 Johnson that the check engine light came on the last time I took it out. It ran fine even tho the engine light was on. Came home and hook it up to the hose and it started and ran O.K. did seem like it might have a slight miss. The plugs were over a year old so I bought 6 new ones and installed them set gap at .030 I started the engine and it ram for approx 2 Min's and it started to bog down and stalled now it won't even start I pulled the plugs and they seem wet but it acted like it was starving for fuel.

First lets check for spark. If we have spark, look at the primer solenoid. It sounds as if -- providing we have spark -- that the primer is leaking or in the "On" position and dumping fuel.

Make sure your plugs are Champions.

Thanks Dhadley for the advise. The plugs are champion LQ78YC and I have good spark.I always thought it was fuel related and decided to replace the in line fuel filter as a start. when I removed the filter and was going to install the new one I pumped the primer bulb to make sure that i was getting fuel up to the filter. Low and behold the bulb was tight but no fuel was coming out of the line. I pumped it real hard and a wad of something black shoot out of the line . Come to find out that the inside of the bulb was deteriorating and pieces of the rubber had finally stop up the line . Replace bulb and filter and it run like new.
