Dhadley, update from George today... He says they hooked the engine up to a hose and a dwell/tach meter. The OMC tack was off by 1000 from the automotive tach. If so he is at 5500 by my view. He says he can get 4800 out of it at times so that would be a stretch at 5800. I still think either he's not trimming out well when on plane or the engine is too low or a combo of the above. Thoughts?

Hard to say. We dont use auto tachs, we use an OMC/BRP shop tach thats made specificaly for two strokes. The auto tach may or may not be accurate, I dont know. Youre absolutely correct that trimming will have a lot to do with top rpm. I would still verify with a known good tach.
