228 mercruiser water in oil problem

1979 mercruiser 228 (gm 305) purchased boat with severly cracked block on both outsides --frost plugs DID NOT BLOW -- repaired cracks with world famous J/B WELD held great NO LEAKS !!!! problem occoured when put muffs on lower -- ran great for 5 min's or so -- I shut it down went got more gas re-started / started hard then milkey oil (water in oil) comes out of rocker cover vents !!!!! head gasket ? or is it possible for block to crack on INSIDE ? has anyone had a block crack on inside water jackets ?

Ayuh,... That's where it Usually happens...
--frost plugs DID NOT BLOW --
'cause their Not frost plugs, they're Core plugs...

Yep. Had it happen. That's where it usually happens. Don't trust JB Weld. While it is good stuff, I wouldn't trust it on a boat. Get it welded, or get a re-manufactured block. I spent $500 on welds and machining and still couldn't trust the old block, so I bought a long block from Auto-Zone for $1600. Not only will I be secure, but it will make resale higher.
