25.4' Sea Ray SRV 240 Weekander. Model:W113855 OMC/5.7 liter Chevy 350

I am looking for anykind of info on this boat. Retail new in 69, owner's manual, stat's. Is this a classic or just your everyday Sea Ray. How many were made, part's, retail now in mint cond....Where can I find info at on this boat...etc...etc....

This is my fathers boat and I have taken the time to totally do it up. The hardest thing for me to find is the cabin door. It's been sitting for about 10 years and is coming along nicely. But I have no history on it. I dont know what it is that I have here. Is it a Lincoln or a Pinto? I have never seen another one of these boat's before and I am having trouble's reserching it.

Mokenwee@yahoo.com if you can help.

Thanks for any comments.

I will post a pic of her when I get it scanned.

Classic or not, she's still my baby.
"The Fox"

:)

Maybe this http://www.marineemporium.com/0947gj.html

Look for old magazines and annuals in your library.

A well kept Sea Ray is as good as any boat. Handles fine and is well build. Absolutely above the average.

The engine is in best case up to '69 standards which means 'rather thirsty'.

I would rate the Sea Ray far above Pinto but not quite a Lincoln... lets say a full size LTD ;) class.

UU is right about it probably being a thirsty critter and I would add in that the valve train was designed to run on good old leaded fuel. If you are serious about keeping it and restoring it to it's full capacity I would plan on rebuilding the cylinder heads with updated valves and seats.

Bob

I pulled out the old "chevy caprice engine" and ordered a new marine 350 from Jasper. My plan's are to totally update the boat and install new seats and give the boat a 1990's look. I want to have cabin window's installed and header pipes ran out the back. If that can be done. Nothing will be orignal when I am done. I have a friend that build's conversion van's and he is going to help me out with the cabin. The 1969 style carpet inside has to go.

I would throughly inspect the stringers in the hull also. The through the hull exhaust is noisy and actually does not do as much as it costs. The unwanted stops for "noise" can also be annoying. Check your local laws about it, they are rapidly changing and noise abatement is becoming an issue.

Good move on updating the boat, best of luck with the project.

Bob

Quicsilver does make a thru transom/thru prop hub excaust that you can switch from normal to free out. Trade name is 'Silent Choise Exhaust'. They never mention performance improvements with this kinda stuff - only the sound...

I understand you've set your mind for performance which is not compatible with record breaking mpg.
Otherwise I'd have mentioned a modern diesel as you've decided to repower anyway.

Be good and scan some pics for us!

On Ebay not long ago I ran across a set of "captains choice" exhaust valves which let you choose open/closed header.
Rather pricey equipment.

let me know how you replace the carpet on the overhead. Have an 82 and do not just want to glue up more carpet.
