Re: 25' 1976 Sleek Craft Ambassador Project

Hey Matt.....I got 27,500 or so page views on my sleek....Im glad everyone hasnt replied...geez can you imagine the work THAT would be lol.....

replies come with making pals....once you repliy to a few threads you will see many of them follow your thread as well...:D

anyhoot...goood chattin with ya....sorry the #49 wasnt extreme enough...most of those polishes are for car clear coats so they arent rough enough to cut rock hard old gel coat.....try the 1000/1500 wet.....should cut thru some of the gel micro pits....and allow the polish to work good then....

make sure to post a few pics of the before and after on some spots!

ps clear coating your hull would still require alot of work...the whole thinig would have to be sanded down with 600 or so wet...mebbe even a bit rougher...then $300 worth of clear OUCH! not to mention alot of spray time. and then if ya get any runs or orangepeel, ya gotta wetsand and polsih anyways....uhhg...dang boats! lol

Ordered new gauges today. They should be here Friday. I went with Hardin Marine Stainless.

Thanks QC. It would be cool to see some pics of more Sleeks. Especially from the sacred waters of Lake Havasu. :D

Here is my other Sleek Craft. It's a 74 18' Rebel with a Pontiac 400. It looks a little different now. I have added teak swim platforms to it.

Very nice looking gauges....I always hate cheap looking gauges! Do they have a matching depth finder?

Gages look pretty sweet, right along with that other Sleek.
I haven't had the pleasure of seeing any around here. At least not yet.
Very cool looking boats.
Take care.

Thanks Arch. No matching Depth finder. There may be a matching depth sounder. It is in the catalog but not on their site. I was skimming your Nescher build thread. Great looking boat. Your have an eye for detail. I was up there in McAlestar not long ago looking at a Carlson. It turned out it needed more work that I wanted to do. Worked out OK though I ended up with the Ambassador instead. A friend of mine just recently moved up there to Atoka. He owns Advantage Marine here in Wylie. He should be opening a location in Atoka soon. I pretty much hang with the jet boat crown but maybe we'll see you on a local lake one day.

Ya know it really is the birth place of all of these style boats, that and the Parker Strip which we also love . . . Here's a couple of tidbits for you and Vegas.

I think this is an original Ambassador Brochure. Found it on the net somewhere. I have a larger copy if you can't read it, I'll email if you send your addy in a PM . . . Note the weight with twins, 3500 lbs, I call Bull Ship  I think it was shot at Marine Stadium in Long Beach.

And this is the sweetest Executive I've ever seen (sorry Vegas  ). Was for sale a few years ago near Phoenix:

That is one uber clean Executive. I actually have a copy of that brochure. Mine even had a copy of the dealer price sheet in it.

Speaking of clean boats. This is by far the nicest Ambassador resto out there.

Very cool. Interesting how a some of the smaller jet drives came with an outboard model. I notice mine is really close to some of the 18' / 20' sleek jets. I wonder if they just took the mold and stretched it out a few feet?

Gauges showed up. All I can say is I am very pleased with them. It would be hard to beat the look for the money. The gauge housing and mounting is identical to the Teleflex gauges I put in my Rebel. I'm betting whoever builds Teleflex gauges also builds these. We are headed to the lake. More pics to follow later this week.

Hiya Matt, nice, ya got your gauges!

and yea that guys been restoring that 26'ambassador for a couple years, I thik either he owns Pats fiberglass or its his buddy or he has massive amounts of cash.....that will prob be the most awsome ambassador ever built.

Hey QC i got that ad too as a pretty big JPG from the performance boat forum, and I got the cheesy one they made for the executive too... thanks for the offer on the high res version! there were millions of ads on the performance site (all jets mostly)

Hey no hard feelins QC....all we did was a quickie resto anyways...:D

Gauges are in. I just need to re-size the pics and get them posted. I sent you a PM with my number. Give me a call tonight or in the morning to discuss that pump and 460 combo.

Hey folks,
That's not that funny. I not only remember 8 tracks, I had a couple of them. :D
Hey Last Mohican,
I'm pretty sure that Teleflex builds their own gages, but they may also build for other folks too. So many of them do.

I never had an 8-track but I remember a cousin having one in his car. I always though what a pain in the ***** it was when he tried to find a song by switching tracks. By this time cassette was out. :p
