Any body ever tried to convert a 25hp Chrysler to a 30 or 35? Currently have a 1983 25 hp on a 16ft. jon boat. Was wanting a little more umphh out of it. Didn't know how hard it would be or if it was worth it. Have a Chrysler/Force dealer/ mechanic nearby so parts wouldn't be much trouble.

Re: 25 hp conversion?

Older Chrysler did make a 35 in the same class as the 20-25 but these are far and few between. The bulk of the 35s that were made are the 35, 45, 55 engine block class. Most parts on these engines are not interchangeable with your engine. So unless you can find the old style 35 parts cheap, it is just not worth the time, money, and hassle.

Note that although many Tillotsen carbs will fit onto your 25 manifold, a simple carb change will yeild almost no power gain so that's not worth it either.

I tried porting my 25 and found that it too did not yeild significant power increases.

If your 25 is running well, stick with it.
