25 hp Evinrude won't start (1985)

It ran last year after a carb rebuild and sat over winter now it cranks but won't turn over with the ocasional pop.I changed the plugs and gas,still no go.How do I check for spark?<br /> Thanks,<br /> stu g.

Hi, Stu,<br /><br />Pull plug wire off, hold it within about 1/2" of the head and turn engine over. should get a hot, blue spark.<br /><br />Check fuel by squirting some fuel mix into carb, then try to start.<br /><br />Good luck.
