25 hp impeller & key ** Update*

Hi I'm in the process of replacing the impeller in a 2001 Johnson 25hp long shaft.

I noticed the impeller key looks a bit odd to me as well as the inside of the impeller.

Anyone have an opinion?
Also, when removing the impeller housing the drive shaft moved up about 3/4" of an inch. Is this going to cause me trouble? I notice the prop doesn't ratchet in gear.

Well it turns out that is the way they are supposed to look.

I picked up a Johnson/Evinrude impeller with key # 395289 and they looked just like the ones that were in there.

Thats the way my new one was made...had me all confused but it is still pumping good..
Took me a few minutes to figure out how to put the key in there..

Yea, when I took it out it sure looked like something that had become mangled.
