25 hp johnson/bombardier fluids issue

Hey folks, new guy here with a question. Have a 2002 25hp johnson that blows (what appears to be) oil from the small weep hole on left side of lower unit, blows lube out thru the prop, the boat has set for 2yrs untouched in a garage, could this be seals, o-rings etc? Thanks.

Are you running it on a hose, sounds like unburnt fuel mixture washing carbon out of the exhaust, not uncommon.

It is most likely unburnt two cycle oil and fuel. Does it smell like gas? If your lower unit is leaking it will have water in it.

Yes, running on hose.

Yes, smells like gas, dark brown, water coming out with it. I have pic of it if I ever figure out how to post it.

Normal condition, you will never see it when running in the water.

that is very normal, but if you already havent, replace the gear oil and inspect it for water intrusion......just basic maintenance. (and do buy the nylon washers for the drain/fill plug.....$2 at most)

After you check the g/c oil, take it to the water and run the heck out of it. Your dripping probs may go away.

Took everyone's advice, changed fluid in lower unit, took her to the river, and run the fire out of it. Runs great, no fluids seeping out! A big "thank you" to my new found friends@ iboat!
