Recently I took my boat out and ran up a river 4-5 miles. Stopped at a marina for about 10 minutes. On restarting the motor had a tremendous kick and would not crank. After several attempts it cranked and I wisely returned to my launching area; motor ran fine to that area. However, attempting once more to restart the "Kick" was very evident and motor would not start. Put it on trailer and went home. Found one sparkplug boot nicked all the way to the wire (exposed), can't see this as a kicking problem. Any ideas?

Are you sure the starter lock on the hand starter is adjusted right

Have no idea what you are asking. The kick occurred as I turned the ignition key. I tested also with the pull cord and WOW did it kick back, i.e., the cord was yanked back! Later back home with the hose flush attached no kick and it cranked.

Its not the lock if it's doing it with the electric start. ck to see if the trigger mechanism is not sticking in the advanced position
