25 hp Merc Lower possible damage?

I have a question for you guys. I have a 2000, 25 hp, 2 stroke merc, tiller handle shift. I was out today and I ended bottoming out. I put in forward gear to see if I spun the hub. When I go to spin it in forward all I hear is a click and can spin the prop no resistance. Reverse thiers resistance. I put it in reverse and their is resistance in reverse but not forward. THe hub doesn't appear to be spun Any thoughts? The motor ran fine after the incident And shifts fine. Thanks

I'm bring this back up only because I'd like to use the boat this weekend and if there is a problem I'd like to take care of it before then. Sorry for the impatience. thanks

Not familiar with the shift mechanism on that engine but it sounds like that's where you need to start. Something may have bent or come out of adjustment. If there's nothing obvious on the outside in the linkage you'll probably be pulling the LU this weekend instead of boating.
