I don't believe it was a plastic carb,but it was a plastic float bowl.These carbs cause starting problems.Mine is a 1983 and has this plastic float bowl.My engine starts fine on the cold start and runs great until it gets warm and i shut it off.Then i gotta pull it 12-20 times to get it going again.I beleive gas i leaking back down into the combustion chamber,I can sometime see and smell gas floating on top of the water.My tech told me to find a carb off a 86 thru 93 25 horse that has manual start and tiller handle control,,and get the choke knob and throttle linkage along with it.Should solve my problem.Hard to find
