25 HP Mercury Prop Question

I replaced my factory prop on my '83 25 HP Mercury outboard. The new prop was a 15 pitch. The boat would fly with just one person in the boat. With two it would not plane out. My guess is that the 15 pitch prop is great for speed but lacks the torque to plane out with the additional weight. Can anyone tell me what the factory pitch was on an '83 25 HP Mercury outboard prop? Or does anyone have any other advice on this topic?

Re: 25 HP Mercury Prop Question

first, post your topic in the prop forum.

second, drop the pitch of your prop. too much pitch there for that 25 IMO. drop to 13 or 11 and go from there. you will lose somne top end but planing with more weight in the boat will be better.
