25 merc water pump

hi im working on my 25hp merc (2001)i just changed all the seals and put the the lower unit on .put the ear muffs on ran water and its not coming out the p hole its poring out wher the shift shaft goes out of the lower unit at the base of the lower unit.i changed all the gaskets for the water pump as well ??????any help would be great ...thanks.

It sounds like the long water tube is not seated properly or is not inserted in the top of the waterpump housing.

i did take it off a second time and found the water tube a littel lose at the waterpump base. i put it back on and the same thing happend.there is a small hole for the water tube every thing seems to slide into place .i dont see where the water tube would fit any way else .. it when on very easy???

In that case, the best thing to do is drop it again and remove the housing off the waterpump and make sure the pin is inserted correctly in the impeller, item 20 in the same link in post #2.

no i asure you its not the pin .maybe the impeler is the wrong way or could it maybe be the gasket around the water tube its the only thing i did not change.ive done this before and never had this problem?

sorry it takes about 6-8 seconds before the water starts to poor out
