Have an '83 25 model # e25ectd. Last weekend it was cutting out dead under throttle. Very intermittent which is my concern, hard to diagnose (it would cut out some at WOT and some at 1/2 throttle), but what about thinking in the way of fuel pump, carb, electrical. I don't believe the fuel pump or carb has every been rebuilt. I recently installed a new fuel tank and fuel line. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

No sign of overheating- heads are warm to touch not hot- I thought that too. Compression is good, gauge stated 150 on both cylinders (though I don't think the compression is that high, both cylinders measure the same). When she runs, she screams. Impeller is new about a year ago, Tell tale sprays with pressure at idle. As I stated, my real concern is electrical, it doesn't sputter than die, it just dead dies.

I've heard of cases of loosing spark under temperature. Maybe this is whats happening. As you said, tough to diagnose though. When it dies does it start right back up?
I'm sure one of the pros will chime in shortly.

It started right back a few times, and the last time it did it to me it cranked for a few tries than finally started.

I'm new to the forum, so I'm a little confused on the last reply, this thread wasn't deleted, Jasper 60103 just deleted his post right. I'd sure like some ideas from some of the Evinrude guys here. Is it reasonable to even consider fuel problem based on symptoms or what? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

make sure you have a plastic float the old cork floats are known to deteriorate over time an small pieces of varnish will try to clog the high speed jet

Thanks for the idea Outlaw241. I'm rebuilding the carb anyways for maintenance best practices, so I'll replace the float with the carb kit.
