I've never touched an etec trim system, and need help if anyone knows these motors. have twin 2013 etec 250ho's. the trim wont go up or down. the stbd motor worked for a second a few weeks ago as per customer info, but both stopped alltoghether. I tried jumping the green and blue wires directly to 12v to eliminate the trim motors. nothing. the trim relays do click up and down, and the 10amp fuses are not blown. i ordered a new trim relay assembly and will try that, but both motors not trimming has me worried. could both motors be bad? customer has 3 batteries in parallel... could that cause a current spike and kill the motors? trim limit switches are a possibility, but the connections are both super clean. any help appreciated!

I doubt new trim assembly would help if the motors do not turn up or down on their own by applying Bat & Grd on blue and green wires to the motors. better find out why first.

at least do a measurement of OHMs on the motor side. IF open look for broken wires or.... motor likely has worn brushes. just mho.

extra batteries should not hurt... motors take what they need to run.

btw whiledoing tests check blue/green connector side to see if polarity reverses when activating UP and DOWN switches.

ok thanks guys ill run those tests and report back... but the odd thing is BOTH trim motors do not operate, just a clicking solenoid on each. both went out at the same time which sounds quite fishy if not related to both! and when i say the motors are clean I mean SPOTLESS.... all leads look like they day they left the factory.

Would seem obvious but have you tested the batteries? Trim takes a lot of current.

Replaced my trim motor this Spring. Install went easy enough but spent an hour trying to figure out why it didn’t work afterwards

Had power…..just installed 2 new batteries the prior weekend.

Turned out both batteries where “dead”. Someone didn’t turn the battery switch off and left the stereo and ignition on. ;).

I blamed the wife for calling me in for dinner

haha no batteries are great... both motors start as well as a new car. i did jump the trim motors directly by grounding the black wire and adding power to both green and blue wires. they worked for a split second then nothing. im thinking both trim motors are bad... or bad wiring but everything is spotless.
