I've got twin 1998 250's and am having fuel problems with one. At cruise, port throttle needs to be advanced beyond starboard to synch the motors. At the same rpm, the port burns about 4gph more than starboard. I've run them up and down and notice at WOT, port gets up to 4500rpms at most (and bogs out with more throttle), and starboard runs great and will get up to about 5200.
The motors are new to me this year. They had low hours on them (150), but I believe were not maintained by the old gentleman that I purchased from. I've cleaned the VST filter, which wasn't too bad. I've also removed and soaked the 02 sensor in ring-free. The sensor itself didn't have much build up on it, but there was a lot in and around the tube, and especially on the outside of the tube (the handle of the barbell if you will). I cleaned it up and replaced.
Before I bring this to a yamaha dealer (which for me is pretty inconvenient), is there any other maintenance items I should address? Should I just replace the 02 sensor? Is there some way to quickly check the fuel pumps, or should they be rebuilt or replaced periodically?
Rodbolt, I'm sure you've beat this one to death. I've searched past threads for a few hours and can't find what I need. Any help is always greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
