OK,

Well last spring you all helped me out getting a 69 E-rude running that had been through a fire. Well I have finished restoring the outside and the indside is mechanically sound. The problem that I am having is that when I start the motor in Neutral it doesnt want to start real easy. If I was to put it into gear and pull and throttled the engine a little more the engine fires on like the second pull.

Now here is the question that I have, I dont think that the motor has a idle screw like a old motorycle, I am thinking that this is all done by the amount of air intake in the carb system. How can I idle the motor up so that it will stay running in the neutral position.

Is this something that can be fixed with a slight adjustment or is this something of a bigger problem that needs to be looked at!

Thanks Guys!
-LD

Here's a couple things to look at LD.

Check the cam roller setting. This is that roller thingy mounted to the carb and rides against the cam under the flywheel. Look for a reference mark/line on the cam. When this line is centered on the roller, the throttle plates should just start to open. There are two 5/16" head screws under the cam....losen these to make adjustments

How far out is the low speed needle? Should be about 1 1/2 turns out from gently seated to start. Make fine adjustments after the engine is warm and in gear.
