I have a Tracker Panfish 2004. I had been having some trouble starting it so I was pushing the middle button on the throttle, which puts it in neutral, so I could increase the gas so it would idle faster. I finally figured out my starting problem but now it stays in forward gear. If I push that middle button on the throttle it no longer gets it out of gear. If you ever turn your motor off and forgot to get it out of gear your hear the clicking sound of the wheel for a while. That's what it does now. I really don't know much about motors but if it's simple enough I've been able to do some useful things. It's a major pain to take the boat out of the water to the local service center since they always have a 2 week wait in their unsheltered parking lot to say nothing of the high prices they charge.
I noticed the bolt in the picture was loose so was excited to think I'd maybe fixed the problem by tightening it but it didn't change anything. I remember a similar problem, years ago, that a neighbor's relative, who happened to be visiting, helped fix. Then I think the throttle wouldn't move when pressing the gear shift button. Although I don't remember well what he did it seemed like the cable wasn't connected to pull it out of gear. Thanks for any suggestions.
