I purchased 1979 25hp Chrysler &and it did not have forward controls. I purchased Chrysler forward controls from eBay. Very easy to hook up because everything is color coded. When I hooked up battery and turn key the breaker trips. I disconnect the wiring going to forward controls and breaker does not trip when battery is hooked up. What could be causing the breaker to trip? Im thinking about going with push button start and kill switch. I know red and yellow wire would goto push button. What wires would goto kill switch? I’m including pics. Thanks!

I don't see your pics. I would get a good ohm meter and check resistance from power to ground with the battery disconnected. The lowest point will be your short. Yellow and black is normally the kill switch.

Here's a wiring diagram for a 75. Should be similar.

Thanks legalfee I guess my pics are to large. I found the problem. On the motor terminal block the blue wire is where the white should be and where the blue wire should be is a ground wire. So I figured out the breaker issue. Now I put the blue wire back where it should be on the terminal block but I don’t know where the white should go on the terminal block to motor. The sticker by terminal block says both blue & white are Magneto. The diagram for 75 hp doesn’t match my wiring.

I think the white is the kill or tach circuit. I can't tell without a diagram. I'm not seeing a 79 25hp on marine engine dot com, What's the serial number? Here's a 78: Is it like this diagram?

I ordered the Selco Chrysler repair manual, maybe that will have what I need. I tried again to upload a pic of trlerminal block with label. Hopefully you can see it.
