The fall of '08 I started getting a vibration and a knocking sound coming from my 25hp Johnson. I took it in to have it tuned up during that following winter. The guys at the shop told me the motor was getting worn out, but that Johnsons will run that way for a long time. I used it all last summer this way. Finally decided to take it apart today, and right away found a bracket that was cracked. I'm hoping this was the source of my vibration/knock. Anyone else ever have this happen?
The motor seemed to still run alright, but the vibration was there. I'm hoping if this is the problem, that I didn't loosen anything up or throw anything out of whack running it that way all summer. I did start to get a fuel leak though...
Anyways, not sure where to start in finding a new bracket. Any input and help would be great! I can try to take better pics if needed. Thanks!
