New problem now, just took it back out, to mess with it, didnt even open the lid on the motor and just went up and down river a few times running great then all of a sudden at full power it sounded like the prop just started free spinning and lost all power, engine just revved up like crazy, stopped and proceeded again on my way but if I give it full throttle from a dead stop it starts to sound like it goes then just all of a sudden VROOOOOOOOM free spin, If I hold throttle at like 1/2 way I can put along just fine and plane out ok, but if I go to give it full throttle it like falls out of gear it almost sounds like but it doesnt because if I let off and start going instantly again without nailing it its ok,,,,

it happened earlier today once but was fine because i pulled up the motor and a stick was stuck underneath the motor and the boat and it floated away and then I started it back up and it was fine so I thought that was it, but now its doing it again, and it didn't get better I had to coast all the way home at like 1/2 throttle roughly,,,,,

Sounds like you spun a prop hub, do you know how to check it.

I found your old post, 1971.
First check the drive (shear) pin in the prop, could cause a problem.
To check you hub for slipping.
Look at the back side of the prop, you will see the center section that the drive pin goes through and then the prop housing. Between the two is a pressed in rubber hub.
Scribe or use a water proof marker and scribe or draw a line accross the center hub to the prop housing. Install the prop back on the engine and run it, when it slips, remove the prop and see if the lines still match up. If they don't you have a bad hub. The prop can be rehubed and it will be like new.

So I just have to buy a new prop ? Or take the prop off and just take it in and say I need it rehubbed?

I'd do what Daviet suggested first. That way you'll know exactly what's wrong before running off in the heat of the day.

Check it out first, then either get a new prop or have yours rebuilt.
If you do a lot of back water running, it wouldn't hurt to have a spare prop, drive pin and cotter pin on hand.

I had two props worked on for my 25hp 1975. It was hard to find a new one. One had to be re-hubbed, the other needed the pitch worked on. Ran me $100. A new one, if you can find it, at least $100, w/o shipping. This was done in Ft Lauderdale. Any good prop shop will be able to do it.
