Gentlemen:

I have decided to convert my log style exhaust manifolds to center rise. I ordered the full kit from Wholesale Marine, GLM I believe. They claim increased power/fuel effeciency.

Any experiance out there with this conversion? Is it a good choice, and what kind of power increase can I expect?

Thanks.

You ordered the full kit, you wont have any problems.
As for the horse power difference, if you are still going thru the prop, you probably wont notice it. The boat may plane a touch easier.

Re: 260 Mercruiser Exhaust Conversion

Glad to see this post as I have been considering an exhaust performance change. My SR has the factory exhaust on the 260 5.7.
What are the Pros & Cons of thru the hull exhaust? What can I expect to spend? What type of system seems to be the best? Thanks

I have the same boat/year. I doubt you will see any change in performance.

As an aside, I had major problems with water getting into all the wood in the cockpit. Had to replace the transom, deck, stringers and bulkheads all the way to the cuddy doors.

i replaced my mercruiser center risers with GLM heavy rust. biggest difference i saw was the lack of drain plugs.

Re: 260 Mercruiser Exhaust Conversion

Conversion went well except for needing longer exhaust manifold bolts (not supplied). Other than that it was flawless, test drive this weekend to see if there are any power or effeciency gains- well power immediately at least.

After that all went well I cant believe what I did next, I raised the trailer to drain some water out of the bilge (engine block drain left open) and bent the skeg. Homer Simpson classic manuver!! :(

How difficult is this to repair/replace? I suppose I could get my body hammers out and try to make it straight again??

Thanks Guys!!
