Outdrives are in the shop. Going to be cleaned, and checked before putting them back on.

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

Nice, I'm hoping I can get working on the motors this weekend. I might be going away, might not. Still in the air on that.

I have, it appears to be a mid 30' trawler of some kind. Very large to have in your driveway. There used to be an old 30' Silverton further down the road near the police station as well. Right at Kensington and Orchard is the guy on the corner who trailers his 33' Cruisers Inc. I know where a ton of boats are in the area. Might be stopping to ask a guy off Orchard if he has his shrink wrapped at home or somewhere else. He has a 27' (I believe) Sea Ray.

Thanks, it should look good with the nautical theme I have going. The map mural should come out nice, if it looks how I picture it!

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

It's been a long time here, but with spring approaching, and the sign of 50 degree weather this weekend, I will be starting back up on this project.

In November I purchased a house and that took a LOT of my time, but now that it has been approaching 5 months in the house, things are settled, and I can start getting amped up for the boat work.

Will most likely be starting on the cabin rebuild this weekend. Flooring, fabric/upholstery and maybe some wood work to begin.

Stay tuned, I love seeing progress threads myself!

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

Got some work done to the boat this weekend. After having a lot on my plate, and not getting over on the boat in what feels like 6 months or more, I expected the worst. Turns out the bilge was fairly dry, just a slight bit of water. The real pain was a lot of the interior carpet and wall covering was wet. Clearly the previous owner did a poor job of sealing it up, and instead of recaulking and doing things right, he simply caulked over the seams.

Took the hatches, and port hole windows out, including some other misc. pieces to start resealing it up. In the process we gutted out the headliner, wall material and reamining carpet! Scary site, but to me it looks like potential!!

Pardon the pcictures, they are from my phone.

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

Thanks,

Zach, I think I found the carpet I intend to use... Does anyone have opinions on this stuff? Its readily available and should be enough to wrap the areas I want to wrap.

http://www.homedepot.com/Flooring-C...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

Also does anyone have a line on headliner material, or a product to level the floors before putting down flooring?

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

Yeah, seeing as I will only be carpeting the vertical surfaces, I think it should hold up for a long time. Not to mention this is inside the cabin, so no direct sunlight, or hard sand/water abuse.

The bondo idea ran through my mind too. I am leary, simply because bondo will crack under the right conditions, and I'm unsure if constant stepping and flexing would do it. There should be a floor leveling product out there, as I know tile flooring is leveled before new floor is placed over the top...

Research time, But the carpet might be purchased sooner than later. :D

I took a look at some product they had at home depot... I might give it a try and see how it works.

Re: 27' I.M.P. Liberty "Restoration"

Small update. In an effort to turn around and get the boat water tight I have been working on scraping the okd caulk off the hatches. This turned out to be a lot more tedious than I thought. A previous owner had put caulk everywhere to try and seal them up, and I had to take it all off. It took two days of working a solid 4+ hours a day to get them ready to go back in. I sanded them up and painted them last night.

They should be going back in this evening, giving them a solid 24+ hours to cure before the rain gets here. I will also make sure to cover them after that, and let them cure for a bit longer.
