does anyone have a broken down schematic or blow up of these? from a 84 bayliner with volvo motor and omc 270 outdrive.

I need to understand how the power trim works... maybe wiring for it as well

any info is appreciated, even a picture of what it looks like, or maybe a ebay link to what it would take to replace it the power trim motor :X

thanks

Re: 270 outdrive questions

In this thread there is a link to the OEM manual for the 270. There is also a link to the 280 which you may want to download a well.

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=346638&highlight=Volvo+270+manual

The 270 was available as a 270T with power trim but they seem rare.

The standard 270 had the Electro-mechanical lift witch is what you will find in the manual.

Post back if you have further questions.

Re: 270 outdrive questions

I have your setup (all Volvo btw) in a 19ft 1983 Bayliner Capri. It's only a lift system not trim. Have a slew of manuals in pdf which I printed out to take to the garage when working on it. I need to pull them off my other hard drive however. Contact me direct (REMOVED) and I'll do what I can.

Re: 270 outdrive questions

As captmellow stated, there was a 270T, but I have never heard or seen of one used on a Bayliner. Lots of 270's and 280's but none with trim. But if they did happen to install one, here is a manual for the 270T so you can see what it looks like. It's only for the transom shield and trim.
http://www.4shared.com/file/7213503...0T_Power_Trim_and_mounting_collar_manual.html

The outdrive itself, is still covered in this manual.

If you post your full model number of your engine, I can post a link for service manual for it also.

Re: 270 outdrive questions

ok, really appreciated the manual it helped alot.....

So to understand, most likely the guy has removed this entire assembly, and this is what I would need:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volv...7594597QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLV...0746234QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

quite expensive, don't know if I want to do be bothered trying to find one of these, i'm sure any boat slavage place is 300-400$ if ebay is $250.

Don I don't know the motor... its a volvo 4 cylinder aq125 is all I know

Re: 270 outdrive questions

There are Aq125 A's and B's. they are different, but this manual covers both.
http://www.4shared.com/file/89797330/b32e5bf9/AQ125145_AB_Service_Manual.html

The A was a 83/84 model, while the B was a 84/85 model

Both pictures show the electro mechanical lift. Was not trim. Those models did not have trim.
If 300 to 400 bucks scared you for that tilt setup, you have the wrong hobby. Boats work in $1000 increments. Even the work boat tells the story

Re: 270 outdrive questions

ya I dont mind spending a bit of money, just trying to avoid a money put but understanding costs I KNOW before buying, the boat is a 84 bayliner, interior is so so.. seats have some tears etc but that is an easy fix, the outdrive needs that tilt motor and assembly if I understand correctly(im sure i didn't mention trim in my last post?, that ebay part is not for TRIM is it, its for the tilt system right?), and motor does not run 'but ran least year', so its a toss up at this point..

the alternative is to completely gut my dads 70's silverline interior and re do it, floor is toast.. seats are shot, no covers for it anymore etc.

decisions decisions

Re: 270 outdrive questions

If you don't have the trim setup, you don't have power trim. It's just that simple. You adjust trim by moving the lock down pin on the lower part of the transom shield.
This is the IO forum, we deal in engines and drives. If you have questions about fixing decks and interiors, I suggest you vist the Restoration forum and post those question there.
