Looking into an older 225 HP chev / volvo install- need to locate the neutral start switch?? its not on the throttle/ shift controll. No where !! this is like a factory 1969? model.=single controll with pull out button to select throttle only- with no neutral safety switch on that controll box area. Where can the switch be located at?? Help!!

Mine is a '72 and it will start in gear. Not sure they had that pull out button system back then?

It is in the console shifter.

Even in 1972 they had neutral start switches.

This control is a side Mounted control - it does have a pull out for engaging throttle only=has not a wire or switch on / near it at all. Therefore I cannot find a neutral safety switch. Symptoms are- will crank sometimes -yet not always -just like a bad /intermittent neutral switch!! Yet when using a remote starter switch on starter to battery+ it will crank every time!! I have even replaced the starter!! thinking was a bad solenoid-same as before. I have also replaced the key switch =thinking old boat - bad /intermittent switch-same condition!!all battery conections are good & clean as are grounds to engine.Boat has 2 battery's with a battery switch off-- all-- #1 & #2 positions. Pulling all my hair!!
