Tried lifting the 280 leg on my (AQ125a) the pump ran Ok but the leg wouldnt lift...looked over the stern to see a pretty good oil slick on the water....am I right in assuming this is likely a burst hydraulic line, if so, how difficult are these to change (Yes, I have some mechanical aptitude) Can I use a regular custom made hydraulic line from NAPA or do I hafta buy a Volvo line at $130 Canadian

Thanx

Post a pic of your leg, very few power tilt, trim 280's out there. Mechanical tilt only is the norm.

Re: 280 leg lifting problem

Yeah, that's power trim on a 280, in the future, you might want to say that you have a 280PT drive, not just a 280. The 280 doesn't have hydraulic trim, the 280PT does.
Personally, I have only seen 2 of those drives, and nothing on them was easy to work on. Rather you can have a line made or not, who knows, take the old one in and ask the ones that will be making it.
In your original post it didn't sound like you were to sure about what was leaking. Don't assume that it's a hose, I have had to replace several volvo cylinders due to leakage.

Thanks Don,

Yes you're correct, I had indeed assumed it was a leaky hose... I'll now be widening my search to a possible cylinder leak too...my thanks for your sage advice. :)
