280dp loss of pds bearing

So I recently purchased a boat with a 280dp drive. There was a grinding sound when the boat was running and in neutral. All milky oil in the out drive. Bellows had a hole in it and rust and water all in that section. Drive shaft had a lot of play where I think there should have been the pds bearing and seals. Since the pds bearing is completely gone should I pull the engine and inspect inside the flywheel cover, or just replace the pds bearing (assuming I have one and not two bearings). What else should I also be looking for as a potential issue? Thanks.

There should be a bearing in the front also. So the engine needs to come out. The bearings are common and can be matched up at any bearing supply or maybe even a NAPA store as well as the universal joints.
Sierra# 18-2744 bellows kit
18-2778 water hose connection
18-2775 molded hose
These items should also be changed at the same time.
