I see that the 28th Annual Thoroughbred Roundup is scheduled for September 10th, 2011 in Manistee MI according to the Century Boat Club website: http://centuryboatclub.com/cbcindex02.htm There's no specific information yet...just a date posted so far.
It looks like its mostly for the old Wooden boat guys, but I'm considering taking my fiberglass Coronado up there just for the fun of it....or we may just go without the boat. It's a 600 mile round trip and I'm not sure I want to tow it that far....but it would be fun to take the boat for a little home coming...cheesy I know. Has anyone ever used the boat ramp in Manistee? Is there a fee? Has anyone been to this event? Do I need to make lodging reservations way ahead of time due to limited availability? Trying to get a feel for how big this event is. Looks like there is also a street fair that same weekend in downtown Manistee.
My 19th Anniversary is on Sept. 12th, 2011 and I'm considering taking my wife for a "get-away" weekend. We've been to South Haven, MI in the past and had a good time just walking along the water, looking at all the boats, checking out the local shops etc. Manistee looks very similar right down to the light house.....and the river walk looks like a nice attraction.
Just looking for some advice from someone who's been there...not really interested in being a member of the formal club...just thought it would be neat to go see the boats and hangout for a weekend.
