Good morning guys.I have seen a lot of posts on 3.0 belt changes,However! and not to be rude in anyway..But i read some say raise the engine remove the mount.others say simply remove the spacer. I haven.t gone down to boat yet this morning but plan to soon.
The Question is! Does anyone here KNOW for sure about the spacer thing?? 1988 3.0
Thanks joe~~~~~

Re: 3.0 belt

If it's a Mercrusier make sure the 2 bolts on the starboard side of the mount bracket tight, then remove the 2 port side bolts and spacer and change the belt--Bob

I can't say for sure, but here is a picture of both the Merc and OMC front mounts. The OMC doesn't show any spacer, so you might want to have a look and see if there is a spacer that is just not shown in the OMC parts drawing.

Mercruiser Front mount. (Spacer is Item #4)

Re: 3.0 belt

Your right DON! there is no spacer! thanks for the help.but you can get it off by removing the 5/8s bolt heads by the alt. then loosen the otherside..You get enough room to pry (easy) the mount enough for the old belt to slip out.i found the if you remove the waterpump pully too.you get more room to work.now all i have to do is match the belt and get something to raise the side of the engine to replace the bolts..... Just takes time....Thanks joe~~~~~~~

Re: 3.0 belt

We took the old belt to the auto parts store (Advanced Auto)and had them match one up. Works great.
