hey all im new here and cant seem to find a definite answer. I have a 96 bayliner capri with a mercruiser 3.0 lx(sn-f881371) and an alpha one gen 2 outdrive(sn-of393274). the problem is the block is cracked in the number 2 cylinder wall. What i am looking to do is find a compatible block that will work with all of my parts and accessories. i am going to reuse crank rods pistons(unless oversized) cam lifters pushrods head valve cover alt everything. from what to what years will work ? thanks any info will be greatly appreciated

Re: 3.0 block interchange?

1990-2011

any 3.0 from those years will be a direct swap - Volvo Penta and OMC also used the 3.0

thanks howard, nothing pre 90's (is that because of the two piece vs one piece rear main seal difference?

about the sleeve the machine shop said that "those blocks are not sleevable"

Re: 3.0 block interchange?

A local machine shop told be he could sleeve the cylinder in mine, But do you really want to sleeve a cracked block.
Mine looked like it had a small pin hole starting in #3, and the other cylinders where not that great looking and it was already bored .030 so I scrapped the block and went with new.
